8,000 BTU U-shaped Air Conditioner

Ok this is NOT a paid endorsement. I'm not an HVAC professional, but it's a hobby (like, I read ASHRAE handbooks for fun). These units are remarkable. The U-shape makes them less restrictive on light than a hose floor AC unit. And their efficiency is at least twice of a floor model. A key to them being quiet is that all the "noisy parts" are on the other side of the window. Which is just this sort of frakken obvious thing that you wonder why it took anybody so long (which is often the case with really good ideas). It just works. I just bought a second one for my home office.

I was skeptical at first about how quiet this unit would be and was proven wrong. It is whispered quiet and installation was painless, wifi was one button job after downloading the MS Home app.

So, at the end of June 2022, my central AC decided to stop running in the middle of a heat wave (of course it did, why wouldn't it? O_o). After spending two days without AC, and an internal home temperature of 89 degrees, I had had enough. Decided to pick up this unit based on the great reviews, and Energy Star most efficient rating, and I am very impressed so far. So impressed, that two days later I picked up a second. One is installed in the front living room, and the other is installed in the Master bedroom. Those areas allow for the greatest amount of airflow, and with a ceiling fan keep the entire home very comfortable (both units set at 73°F during the day. 70°F degrees at night). It's now the middle of July 2022, and after 30 days I can honestly say these units are hands down remarkable. I even checked my utility bill, and saved $150.00 on my cooling expenses!! The units aren't super heavy, maybe 60 lbs in the box. Installed easily, and are extraordinarily quiet during operation. I clean the filters as recommended every two weeks, (and because I want to take really good care of them I have thought about perhaps fabricating an accessory shroud filter for the compressor, condenser coil, condenser fan, and power electronics in the exterior section.) to keep dust, and debris out of the external part of the unit.

If you're living like me you know what you want to spend then you see this. Yes it's worth it, when I leave the job site I open the app and Boom!?? it's nice when I get in the door. Fully controllable through the app and remote. And boy is it quiet. My gf sits near the a.c. and her headset (online gaming)would pick up the old one. Not this thing, there's no cranking up your TV to hear it. Incredible A.C.

Seriously how innovative can a company get? Good job guys with this design, truly a work of art! It's super quiet, packed with features and the engineering to make it is top notch. You really thought outside of the box guys!

Picked up this 8k btu for our bedroom after our central air became inoperable. I needed quiet ac operation, so i purchased an inveter style window unit. I did some reading and found the midea had the best price available. Completely blown away on how quiet and efficient this unit is. Watch a you tube vid for installation tips . Directions plus a vid help the overall installation process. The product is a modern looking design with swinging louvers and a pretty nice remote. More light enters the room because of the U shape design. One person can install the 8000 with no problem.(50 lb lift). I find that the temp reading on the display to be a few degrees higher than actual room temp., just compensate for the difference and all is fine. Beautifully quiet and powerful enough to easily cool an average size bedroom or living room. If your in the market for a window ac,definitely look at the Midea lineup. They are a bit more costly than the traditional window shakers because of the inverter technology. If you need quiet operation and efficiency,then the midea inverter ac is just the ticket for summer heat. Very glad i made this purchase while i contemplate my central air repairs.

The air conditioner fit right in the window and the bracing that comes with it are super sturdy. The air conditioner puts out super cool air and is very quiet.

I've been a refrigeration technician for 30 plus years, I've installed and repaired just about every type of air conditioning/ refrigeration system available at one point or another. Two years ago I picked up 2 of the 8,000 btu for my cottage that's just over 600 sqft built in the 50's and I'm pretty sure there no insulation in the walls or if there is it's no longer doing its job. After owning several different manufacturers, sizes and types of cooling systems throughout my life these are hands down the best money I've ever spent on an Air conditioning system. I put one in the livingroom and one in the kitchen and the bedroom is in-between them, I've been able to get the entire place down to 64' during a couple high 90's during the day and low 80's at night with high humidity 3 plus days in a heat waves here in Boston, Ma. I usually set them at 70 to 72. The rule of thumb is if your central a/c unit has your house 15 to 20 degrees lower than outside then it's running fine, so with that said if it's 98' outside high humidity and inside is only 78' but you have it set at 72' it's actually running fine and doing the best it can given the situation. These Midea U window shakers are the best hands down for capability and noise, I can even hear my neighbors window unit running while sitting on my couch there so quiet. They're penny's on the dollar to run which is the best part about them and if I needed to I could hang beef in my place they get it so cold. They already paid for themselves and I highly recommend them to everyone who asks me what system would I recommend or install in my own place. There should be a shooting star rating for products that are above and beyond their competition because these systems are out of this world for value, capability and quality! Just incredible that after installation when this unit is on I could actually hear the birds outside! Cooling is amazing and it's sorcery that you can feel the breeze across the room. Purchased and returned two "Ultra Quiet Series" last year because the quiet was obnoxious. Looking forward to a chill, zen-calm and enjoyable summer now! Thank you!

My main comment in regards to this AC unit is WOW! This one replaced our older LG that had been in place for I guess 7 to 10 years. It was pretty noisy. Install on this one is pretty easy, but READ the instructions. It comes with a window sill bracket that has feet against the outside wall so you can set the level, and it does not require any additional support. It also comes with enough spacers and rubber seals so you don't need to hit the hardware store. It has a feature to allow the window to open or close, but I did not use it, don't want any burglars poking around. It needs a wall outlet, 15A I would guess. I saw one review that says it can't be used with a GFI, but that's what we have, and it's perfectly happy with it, so I don't know what their problem was. What does the unique U shape give you? I'll tell you, almost absolute silence while it's running. I had to go outside and listen to the compressor just to make sure it was running. This is one unit that will not bother your ability to sleep! In the default mode the fan is allowed to operate over a wide range of speeds, so when first on it's at fast speed, then as the room cools, it slows down, and it gets whisper quiet, amazing. If it gets too cool, it will even stop and wait for a bit before it whispers some more. Absolutely GREAT!
